Scope of Effort
The scope of effort shall include all items identified in each sub-task. The contractor
will provide technical assistance in resolving problems and rendering assistance with the Queue Replication software in the testing of data replication of any SSA application using DB2 as a data repository. In addition, be proactive with upgrades and changes especially when potential problems have been identified that may not have occurred yet.
Sub-Task 1: DB2 Queue Replication Software Development and Maintenance
Purpose: Develop, maintain, test, document, and deploy DB2 Queue Replication system level software features and changes.
Activities: The following activities shall be performed in accordance with SSAs standards, which will be provided by SSA, for building DB2 Queue Replication subsystems and adhering to life cycle and change control procedures:
Analyze high level requirements.
Develop detailed procedure documents for installation, maintenance and testing.
Install, test, and maintain Queue Replication system software.
Meet with SSA analysts, management and end-users to develop requirements.
Manage the life cycle.
Coordinate software changes.
Provide periodic status reports on development efforts via email.
Produce design documents and program flowcharts.
Sub-Task 2: Create New or Modify Existing DB2 Queue Replication Architectures
Purpose: Create new or modify existing DB2 Queue Replication subsystems in support of new SSA applications or database architecture re-engineering initiatives.
Activities: The following activities shall be performed in accordance with SSAs standards, which will be provided by SSA, for building DB2 Queue Replication subsystems and adhering to life cycle and change control procedures:
Create new Subsystems for Integration and Production life cycles.
Complete appropriate change management documentation such as specific forms and SSAs Change Asset and Problem Reporting System (CAPRS).
Update appropriate configuration documentation to reflect changes to the architecture.
Communicate and work with application developers and software testers to ensure all DB2 Queue Replication resources are identified and defined appropriately.
Update DB2 Queue Replication configuration document provided by SSA.
Update life cycle turn over documents
Sub-Task 3: Problem Management and Production Support
Purpose: Provide problem resolution that includes the diagnosis and root cause analysis of DB2 Queue Replication application software problems, configuration, or system related problems.
Activities:
Customize commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) monitoring software to monitor the DB2 Queue Replication production environment for problems.
Provide 24x7 pager support to resolve related problems when they occur.
Inform specified SSA personnel by phone and email of problems and subsequent resolutions. SSA personnel will be specified by the Task Manager.
Document customization of COTS monitoring software
Document problem resolutions including full root cause analysis to SSAs problem tracking system - CAPRS.
Sub-Task 4: Software Installation and Maintenance
Purpose: Perform software installation and maintenance of DB2 Queue Replication software and third party vendor products to maintain a reliable and stable infrastructure and to maintain DB2 Data Replication.
Activities:
Install DB2 Queue Replication software and third party vendor software using System Modification Product/Extended (SMP/E) across SSAs System Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Maintain DB2 software and third party vendor software using SMP/E across SSAs SDLC.
Provide 24x7 pager support to resolve DB2 related problems when they occur.
Install DB2 Data Replication software and maintain a continuously available environment.
Update configuration documentation reflecting new software versions.
Research compatibility between DB2 and third party vendor software.
Research compatibility between z/OS, Top Secret, Application software in relationship to DB2 and third party vendor products.
Establish and document test plan.
Coordinate test activities with application development staff and external partners.
Document changes using SSAs Change Management System (CMS.
Communicate and coordinate software upgrades with the Task Manager.
Upgrades to DB2 and third party vendor software according to agreed upon project schedule, which will be provided by SSA.
Test plans should be submitted to the SSA Task Manager.
Updated configuration documentation should be submitted to the SSA Task Manager.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
